Group bookings

Pétanque offers a friendly, relaxing and enjoyable activity with a difference for any local organisation or social club. In the past we have had regular bookings from groups such as the U3A (University of the Third Age), Rotary Clubs, Lions, Round Tables, WIs, other sports clubs and office parties.

At present pending our move to a new location, we are unable to accept group bookings from outside organisations except U3A. We hope to be able to accept such bookings again in the future so if you you are planning such an event please contact us.

Any enquiries about group bookings should be made to: Brian Armes at the following address:

Prior knowledge or experience of the game is not important. The club will provide one or more supervisors to explain the basic rules of the game and demonstrate how the boule is held and thrown. The usual format is for the supervisors to organise an informal melee where teams are selected at random from the visiting group and three rounds of games each lasting about 40 minutes are played in a session. The time spent on the terrain is therefore between 2 and 2½ hours.

We ask for a minimum of 10 people per booking, but the ideal size of a group is 12 or more players. Appropriate footwear should be worn - trainers are recommended - no high heels!

A small temporary membership charge is made for each visitor and a non-returnable deposit is required to secure each booking.
